The Manchester Public Transport Ramblers group was born out of the Greater Manchester and High Peak Area Walks.
The group organise and lead walks for people who are able to enjoy walking during the week as well as at weekends.
Our walks take place throughout Greater Manchester and the High Peak, but we also venture further afield into Cheshire, Shropshire, and the Sheffield area. We've even enjoyed a coastal paddle at Morecambe Bay and explored the Wirral Peninsula.
As our name suggests, all of our walks are accessible by public transport, so there's no need to drive to enjoy the countryside. Simply join us and discover great walking routes with like-minded people.
No need to book for most walks, you can just turn up unless there are special arrangements in the description. In all cases, please read the walk description for details.
We organise walks on Sunday and Wednesday. On both days we organise moderate and strenuous walks (on Wednesday these were traditionally known as the Short and Long Walks) , whilst on Sunday we may also include a short walk, some of which are open to families with children.
If you have any queries on the Sunday Walks, please contact Jeff Lewis on 0161 766 4683, or regarding Wednesday please contact John Rattray on 07813 241766

Some short walks are also open to families with children. Children must be accompanied by an adult (maximum 2 children per adult).
